Kay Adachi

Kay Adachi, violinist, was born and raised in Japan. Kay graduated magna cum laude from UC Irvine where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in violin performance under Haroutune Bedelian. In recognition of her musical and scholastic achievements, Kay was awarded Rawlins and Tierney Scholarships and completed her graduate studies under full fellowship. While at UCI, she was a winner of the concerto competition, performing Vieuxtemps Concerto No.4 with the UCI Symphony Orchestra.

Since graduating from UCI, Kay has performed regularly with the Pacific Symphony as a regular substitute for 13 years, joining their first European tour in March 2006. She has also performed with Opera Pacific, American Ballet Theater and the Riverside County Philharmonic and others.

An active chamber musician, she performed annually as a duo with pianist Junko Nojima at Santa Ana College for 10 years.

Kay is a busy private teacher and coaches for Junior Chamber Music, a program for talented middle and high school students. Her students have placed at ASTA, Enkor International, American Protege, SYMF, Satori, MACOC competitions and have been accepted by the Honor Orchestra of America, Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, Santiago Strings, and the Irvine Honors Orchestra and others.
