Welcome to Tokyo International Music School, and thank you for taking the time to look at our website. My decision to establish this music school has been informed by my experience working as Director of Music at the British School in Tokyo. Whilst our students were able to take advantage of musical opportunities within school, it seemed odd that there was no way of regularly bringing students from different Tokyo schools to rehearse and perform together.
Working in partnership with the British School in Tokyo, where our rehearsals take place, we hope not only to bring students together from different international schools in Tokyo, but also to allow members to work more closely with students from local Japanese schools. In the spirit of cultural exchange, our aim is to provide a place for students to come together to share their passion for music, to build lifelong friendships, and to and to have fun in the process.
Our first year was a great success, with the establishment of a range of different groups, and three concerts at which our students had the opportunity to showcase their skills. We hope to build on this in our second year, providing more groups, including opportunities for adults, and a range of performances for all of our members.
Please do get in touch if you have any questions about our programmes, or any of our future plans, and we will be very happy to hear from you.
