Tokyo International Music School started its Orchestral programme in September 2022 with the foundation of the Youth Orchestra. Our orchestral programme has expanded since then to accommodate for different ages and levels of experiences.
Please see the links below to find out more.
Youth Orchestra
The Youth Orchestra is our largest and most established group. The orchestra is open to instrumentalists up to age 19, who can play their instruments at ABRSM Grade 5 standard or above, and tackles large-scale symphonic pieces.
Recent Repertoire includes Prokofiev’s Montagues and Capulets from the Romeo & Juliet Suite, Les Toreadors from Bizet’s Carmen Suite, and Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. Rehearsals take place every Sunday from 09:30-11:30 in Azabudai. Click here to find out more, and to register for the group.
Chamber Orchestra
The Chamber orchestra is designed to challenge our most advanced players. Students should be able to play their instruments to ABRSM Grade 7-8 standard or above, and be confident sight-readers. Rehearsals take place on Sundays from 11:30-12:30 in Azabudai.
Students from the Youth Orchestra who reach the required standard may be able to take part for free (subject to the availability of places). Click here to find out more, and to register for the group.
Community Orchestra
The Community Orchestra is a new group for the 2024-25 season. This is an orchestra for adults from age 19 upwards. Members should be able to play their instrument to a good standard. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings from 19:00-20:30 in Azabudai.
Our other adult groups have formed a strong community among their members, and we are sure that the Community Orchestra will be no different. Click here to find out more, and to register for the group.
