Marie Oka

I have studied in Music Schools in the UK and USA for a total of 15 years, and am currently based in the Saitama/Tokyo area. I have over 10 years experience teaching violin privately as well as group teaching in public schools, Summer Music Festivals and El Sistema in the USA.

I offer violin lessons for a wide range from beginners to advanced, from amateur violinists to those preparing for higher education in music. As a lifelong musician and passionate educator, my hope is to help aspiring violinists of all ages and backgrounds in their musical journeys!

Biography:

Marie Oka studied at the Purcell School of Music in UK from age 11 where she studied violin with Carol Slater and Yossi Zivoni. She received her Bachelor`s degree from the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied with Yossi Zivoni. In 2016 she Graduated with her Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music, where she studied with Prof. Syoko Aki.

Marie was a Finalist at the Toshiya Eto National Violin Competition, and top Prize Winner of the Tokyo International Artist Association Young Musician`s Competition. Marie has performed extensively in the UK, Japan and USA as well as across Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She has also taken part as Soloist and Chamber Musician in the Sarasota Music Festival, Bergen International Festival, Grand Piano Chamber Music Academy and Festival, and the Bath International Music Festival. In 2016 she gave her debut Solo Recital in Japan sponsored by the Tokyo International Artist Association.
